Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Relations

Department of Journalism and Public Relations at California State
University, Long Beach is accepting applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor with the possibility of
tenure, of Public Relations position. Applicants seeking the rank
of Associate Professor, with the possibility of tenure, need to be
leaders in the field.Required Qualifications:
- M.A. in public relations, mass communication or relevant
discipline
- Professional experience in public relations or strategic
communication
- Demonstrated potential or experience in teaching at the college
level [A record of teaching that would commensurate with rank]
- Record of and/or demonstrated potential for successful
research, scholarly and creative activities. [A record of scholarly
research and publication commensurate with rank]
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse
student populationPreferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in public relations, mass communication or relevant
discipline. Degree at the time of application or official
notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 17,
2023.
- Significant professional experience in public relations
- Achievement in scholarly research and publication or a defined
research agenda
- Prior college-level teaching experience, especially in public
relations
- Active or leadership role in affinity and advocacy
organizations
- Experience of successfully working with populations
demographically and socioeconomicallysimilar tothe CSULB
studentbodyDuties:
- Teach a variety of undergraduate public relations courses [Mode
of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any
combination thereof.]
- Develop curriculum and advance the public relations
program
- Engage in original scholarly research that leads to
peer-reviewed presentations and publications
- Contribute to shared governance by serving on committees and
participating in other activities
- Serve as the faculty advisor to the CSULB chapter of PRSSA
and/or the CSULB Bateman Team
- Participate in service to the department, college, university,
and communityThe CSULB Department of Journalism and Public

Forty-Niner, DIG Magazine, DIG en Espa--ol, and the 2019 and 2021
national Bateman public relations case study competition champions.
