Teams are nimble, decisions are made quickly and we are action-oriented.While other companies talk about it, we do it!Spacecraft Simulation and Test EngineerThe Spacecraft Simulation and Test Engineer is primarily responsible, alongside the US HITL team, for the operation, maintenance, upgrade and test of the Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) system for the Photon Satellite System. Responsibilities also include supporting software integration on flight systems and support of active satellites when needed.Duties & ResponsibilitiesRunning of Rocket Lab's Photon HITL and Flatsat test rigs to ensure the all hardware and software components are functioning to the high standards held by Rocket Lab.Organizing and carrying out the maintenance and upgrades of HITL and Flatsat hardware.Designing, building, and operating new automated test rigs.Assisting other Rocket Lab engineers in all steps of a program, "Cradle to Grave," including but not limited to, proposal scoping support, assembly integration and test support, mission operations support, flight software support.Assisting with design and implementation of full-stack test programs to qualify new software and hardware revisions.Designing and implementing test data post-processing algorithms/scripts.Assisting with the development of automation tools to streamline and optimize the running of HITL and Flatsats.Providing assistance and technical advice as required to support the production and calibration of Photon Satellites.Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.A good theoretical and/or practical understanding of electronic systems.Exposure to designing and implementing test systems for electronics.Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc).An understanding of sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition electronics.The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.Python programming experience.Preferred Skills & ExperienceMechatronics experience.Systems Engineering.C/C++Embedded SystemsLinuxPrevious HIL/PIL experienceNetworkingExperience working in a continuous integration environmentExperience with Git version controlExperience with spacecraft flight hardware handlingHarness design and fabricationExperience with SQL and NoSQL databasesIT Automation (Ansible, SaltStack, etc)RF SystemsFabrication methods (mills, lathes, drill press, etc)Important Information:To conform to US Government space technology export regulations, applicants must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, protected individual as defined by 8 USC 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the US Department of State.Rocket Lab USA is an Equal Opportunity Employer, employment with Rocket Lab USA is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status
