Orbit (VO) is seeking a Vehicle Integration, Propulsion Test
Engineer. The integration team works to bring together the
different manufacturing and design elements in order to have one
cohesive launch system. If you join us in this position, you will
assist in defining and executing the vehicle & payload test
verification plan in order to deliver flight ready vehicles to the
launch team. You will also work towards optimizing operations to
enable a precise, safe and efficient test campaign. This role is
for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent
people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory
in beautiful Long Beach, California.Your Mission
- Author test procedures and training programs to test integrated
assemblies while considering safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Execute integrated test plans as a test conductor at subsystem
and vehicle levels to ensure design and build integrity.
- Work with production team to prepare subsystem and vehicle
levels prior to testing.
- Interface with design, manufacturing and systems engineering
teams to implement build and test improvements.
- Identify and implement solutions (GSE/eGSE, capital equipment,
automation etc.) to improve test processes and reach company
goals.
- Project manage the testing campaign to ensuring vehicles are
tested on time.
- Manage corrective actions from working nonconformances. Find
root cause and prevent these problems on future builds.
- Assist with transitioning the Integration team from a
small-scale development support team to a high-rate production
resource.

- Bachelor of Science Engineering degree in manufacturing,
aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering
- 2+ years' experience in building and testing hardware and/or
system in a manufacturing environment (fluid, gas, electrical,
structural, pneumatic hardware and/or systems).
- Experience with test equipment (pumps, valves, instrumentation,
digital multimeter, oscilloscope, adjustable power supply, data
acquisition and automation).
- Experience with creating test procedures, planning and
conducting critical test operations.
- Experience interfacing with design, manufacturing, systems
engineering and production personnel.
- Experience reviewing test data and work to disposition
anomalies.
- ERP and MES experience is a must.
- Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly
changing work environment.
- Generally high level of all-around awesomeness.
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR
-120.15).
- Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility
of affordable access to space.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement,
inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.

- Ability to thrive as a 'one person team'.
- Experience working in development and/or volume production test
campaigns.
- Knowledge of two or more of the following: fluid systems
(cryogenic, RP-1, gaseous Helium and Nitrogen, Plumbing and
Instrumentation Diagrams, leak checks), avionics systems (boxes,
harness installs, connector mating), GUIs (Labview based),
electrical testing, pressurized systems testing, GSE/eGSE design
and build.
- Experience in data reduction and post-processing tools.
- Experience developing tools to work safely and efficiently in
time-sensitive operations.
- Experience developing automation and user interfaces for test
execution.
- Experience operating pressurized gas systems is a plus.
- Experience with Siemens NX/TeamCenter, Oracle and Solumina is a
plus.
- Familiar with the use of PFMEAs to reduce risk to the
manufacturing and test processes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
This role is highly interdisciplinary and requires sharp people
