What we do: We are looking for an experienced manufacturing engineer as a part of the assembly and integration product team. This role reports directly to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and will be heavily involved in manufacturing technology maturation and prototype build activities. This role will be critical in providing manufacturing support to airframe and vehicle systems design teams, while ensuring a design for manufacturing philosophy. Additionally, this role will work to ensure the vehicle properly utilizes novel materials, processes, and Industry 4.0 technologies to meet aircraft rate requirements. Our ideal candidate has experience in composite design and manufacturing processes, as well as, clean sheet development of airframe assembly plans. What you can do:

  • Support technology development projects for high-rate manufacturing materials and processes
  • Closely coordinate with prototype build activities and internal design teams
  • Incorporate novel manufacturing technologies into vehicle design by providing strong technical support to the airframe design teams
  • Support the fabrication efforts for structural test, demonstration articles, and prototype aircraft
  • Collaborate with all engineering teams to ensure design for manufacturing principles are properly applied
  • Develop manufacturing standard practices and procedures
  • Assist in development of tooling standard practices and detail design efforts What you can contribute:
    • B.S in a relevant field
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in aviation and/or automotive industries (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
    • Must have experience in aviation or automotive production environments
    • Manufacturing build plan experience with development programs
    • Experience with prototyping
    • Experience in composite fabrication methods
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams to improve the assembly and FAL process of a product (Design for Manufacturing)
    • Experience in aviation, automotive, and/or the mobility space with UAS or UAM
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly collaborative and works well both independently and with a team
    • Sense of urgency, proactive delivery of communication and follow up
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
    • Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
    • Open-minded demeanor
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite You may also be able to contribute:
      • M.S. preferred
      • Experience in aviation certification environment desired
      • Experience with development programs preferred
      • Experience in prototyping environments preferred
      • Lean/Six-Sigma experience and qualifications desired
      • Project management experience a plus
