Job Description:
Director IT, TOS & Business system -is responsible for
management & direction of maintaining critical Terminal Operation
System (TOS) and its business critical integrating operational
enterprise systems at ITS Long Beach container handling facility.
This position reports into the department of Information Systems
(ISD) at ITS Long Beach.Successful candidate is responsible of
oversight, management, and ownership of terminalTOS, operational IT
business system and of local & offsite teams maintaining and
implementing such systems. You are results-driven and have strong
architecture, management and service excellence skills and a deep
understanding of terminal technologies including NAVIS, ABB,
Kalmar, and other 3rd party terminal solution providers.You will
manage IT team & 3rd party vendor teams handling TOS and will
oversee new IT systems implementations at ITS. You have strong
analysis, evaluation, and management skills required in management
of industrial IT systems, inclusive of container terminal and/or
similar industrial environments.Successful candidate will blend
technical and business competence with expertise in the integration
and of operational technology stack in a marine container terminal
environment. Will manage the team, contribute to cost efficiencies,
prepare, participate, and provide terminal systems roadmap and
maintain accountability and efficiency of IT systems
investment.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Handling and management of terminal TOS and business systems
area, systems area team in alignment with ISD objective and
strategy (long and short term).
- Work with business leaders and end-users to identify
implementation and improvement opportunities and ensure that
operational areas utilize information systems to effectively
improve work efficiency.
- Guide the local team, evaluate, and prioritize implementation
changes in terminalTOS and IT business system. Manage change
control process.
- Provide oversight and identify SLAs to support successful use,
improvement, and modernization of terminal operational systems.
Manage efficiency through improved production, better cost
ownership.
- Oversee negotiation and administration of 3rd party vendors,
outsourcing, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Provide competence and ownership in creating and running tenders
and making specifications for modernizing system services and
future implementations.
- Identify and grow local area team to prepare for internal
succession for the incumbent's position and other lower key
positions in the department within the frame of employment.
- Actively look for opportunities to plug the gaps by serving
across many roles and functions to continually drive the use of
system and integrations with a sense of urgency (e.g., training,
technical writing, demos, betas, pilots, etc.)
- Support ITS commitment to implement and maintain standard work
system which includes ISO and OSHA standards for operating the
marine container handling facility.
- Maintain working and professional relationship with labor
union, other department managers and team. Discuss and resolves any
job issues with terminal staff and/or officials and represent the
interest of the company.CRITICAL
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCENecessary to perform the
requirements of the position:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus a minimum of 8+
years' experience in marine terminals or industrial IT operation
systems, enterprise applications and technology operations.
- Proficiency in the following suite of technologies to: hold
conversations with experts, evaluate 3rd party solutions, identify
actions in meetings, and articulate meaningful updates to
stakeholders using the appropriate technology terminology.
- NAVIS SPARCS N4 and/or other Terminal Operation system(s).
- Terminal Auto-gate and Gate operation system
- Crane OCR systems
- Machine and CHE handoff and dispatch automation
applications
- EDI & 3rd part data exchange applications.
- Mobile and embedded application technology systems.
- 3rd part tools and externally hosted enterprise business use
systems.
- Strong management oversight, team building, motivating and
decision-making skills to influence workforce to achieve operation
goals. Is receptive to innovative idea and suggestions, think
strategically about the long-term and has a vision.
- Guide, coordinate and supervise local and 3rd party IT
programming and support team to provide direction, guidance, and
accountability. Assist in building relationships with software and
technology vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills to effectively
communicate with individuals and departments at all levels.
Excellent conflict resolution and problem- solving skills, strong
cultural awareness.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands and work
environment characteristics described here are representative of

/ headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view
& enter information on the computer. May need to travel across the
US & Canada and occasionally overseas.Ability to drive a vehicle
and maintain a valid California driver's license. Should have
availability and flexibility to be available off work hours - on

- This position directly reports into ISD VP/Head at ITS Long
Beach.
