Sr. Manager - Security, Logistics and OCONUSPosition Summary -Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a -Sr. Manager, Security, Logistics and OCONUS to oversee and manage teams; lead our physical security, specialty logistics, and facility operations Outside Continental United States (OCONUS). In this role, the candidate will develop comprehensive policies and practices to maintain the safety and security of our people, systems, and tools. In this role, you will be required to perform site inspections of any facility where VO may be conducting operations to assess the facilities location, condition, operational tools and equipment, and compliance of physical and system security and the related processes, safety regulations and protocols of those sites to ensure the company objectives can be met. In addition, this person will have exceptional knowledge in the complexities of all logistics, security, and legal requirements from physical, technology (e.g., cameras), transportation, storage, cybersecurity, surveillance, investigations, and the complexities of reporting. Accomplish company objectives by establishing action plans, timetables, and risk mitigation outcome measurements, and ability to make mid-course corrections. The Sr. Manager, Security, Logistics and OCONUS help lead and support the growth of our OCONUS Spaceports and the ability to have our Launcher One program to become a global presence. - The company is experiencing, and increased footprint expansion and this role will lead and support security/building infrastructure improvements and development, and the identification, procurement, transportation, logistics and of capital equipment. This role will also work hand in hand with the launch operations, spaceports, EH&S, finance, and other functions to ensure operational success. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.This is a Full-time -position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California launch test and operations site in beautiful Mojave, California.Your MissionLead VO factory physical security development with respect to facility security infrastructure growth plan and installation of appropriate security equipmentGather and integrate requirements for OCONUS Logistics and facilities to include facility and equipment specifications, company, or government restrictions, ITAR, Export requirements, schedules, and integrated project plans.Build and implement comprehensive strategies for both principle and company protection plan to deploy both domestic and global, including escalation communication Coordinate closely with the Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology, and Enterprise Application Systems teams on project inputs, progress, and risks, ensuring clarity of task objectives and ownershipPrepare Scope of Work and supporting documents to source, approved designs, construction, and equipment to include related servicesForecast and report on project status, including key project metrics for Risk, Cost, and scheduleReview proposals, estimated costs, including design, equipment, installation, construction, and other related costsExcellent understanding of investigation and surveillance reportingBehavioral profiling and scope of responsibilities communicating Fiscally responsible and achieves financial goals by controlling and reducing costs through efficient and optimal use of department assetsImplementing department standards and ensures quality control is met for the development and maintenance of all departmental operational and administrative guidelines, policies, and proceduresProduce and implement risk mitigation and schedule recovery plans as requiredBuildout requirements, processes, and procedures specialty logisticsEstablish efficient routes and transportation scheduleHelp Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better placeConstantly learn new things-and share them with your team membersPerform other duties assignedWhat you bringIf you want to join us, you'd better have all of these---Bachelor's degree in Business, Security, and/or Engineering Minimum of 8 years of experience managing teamsMinimum of 5 years in facilities engineering, security and networks, and/or construction managementCertified in defense tactics and analysis, firearms training, surveillance, and all legal aspectsLeadership experience as an interdisciplinary project or product managerExperience with management of multidisciplinary security, construction, and commissioning of equipmentProject management experience that includes leading cross-functional teams, building integrated schedules, creating, and managing to budgets.Creative problem solver, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, excellent people, and negotiation skills.Experience training teams on security protocols and requirementsWilling to travel both domestically and internationallyAbility to more than average workdays, and some weekends when requiredMust be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR -120.15)Valid driver's license -Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space.Ability and desire to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.--- and you should probably have a bunch of these, too.Master's degree in either an engineering, security, or business field of studyExperience interfacing with local and state government agencies for security, building, and equipment installation projectsAbility to thrive as a 'one person team'.Ability to add something unique and positive to our team.Generally high level of all-around awesomeness.ITAR RequirementsTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR -120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.Personal RequirementsOur idea of a happy life: build rockets, work with brilliant people, serve purposeful customers, and open access to space.
