Under the supervision of a physician, the Nurse Practitioner
performs medical diagnostic and treatment activities in the fields
of primary care/reproductive health and performs minor surgical
care and procedures for California State University Long Beach
(CSULB) students. The incumbent provides services that are
equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the
quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and
equity minded approach in all communication and service

Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate
diplomatically and effectively with co-workers and departmental

effectively and productively as part of a team. Ability to
consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties

Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with university
students and effectively convey medical information. Skillful and

disciplines, and the University. Adhere to professional standards,
all policies, clinician protocols and regulations established by
Student Health Services. Provides high-quality care services in
accordance with the principles of professional practice and ethical
conduct. Occasional coverage outside usual and customary SHS hours.
Working with biohazards: blood borne pathogens and medical waste.
Ability to lift heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds). Complies with
HIPAA Health Care Privacy and Security Law. Complies with SHS
policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse
campus community. Ability to follow all university policies,
procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety,
civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and
procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university
experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the
university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to an academic degree or certificate from an approved
college or university-based Nurse Practitioner program and must be
clinically competent in a medical specialty applicable to the
position, with the ability to perform the duties of a Nurse
Practitioner within that specialty.
Sufficient experience to independently perform the scope of
practice identified for the position. Experience in both primary
care and reproductive health. National certification. ACLS
(Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
Licenses / Certificates
Possession and maintenance of a valid California license as a
Registered Nurse and a BRN certificate as a Nurse Practitioner as
required by the California Board of Registered Nursing. If
delegated authority to furnish medications, the incumbent must
possess and maintain a valid BRN Furnishing Certificate, CPR
certificate, and a valid DEA number and certificate required. CA
Driver's License preferred.
Student Health Services
The salary range for this classification is $5,690 to $10,979 per
Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental),
tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid
holidays each year.
Full-time temporary position for one year with no permanent status

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated
