Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/10/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN in California with at least two years of NICU experience and current BLS and NRP certifications. Responsibilities - Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within a hospital setting - Four 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM - Required to float to PICU and CTICU as needed based on census - Uses Epic for documentation and charting; Epic experience preferred - Every other weekend or as needed weekend coverage required - No on-call requirement - NICU nurses provide specialized care to neonatal patients requiring advanced interventions - Completion of modules and Epic training is required pre-start - Up to 5 days of pre-approved time off allowed; no time off approved for Black Friday or December 21-23 - Time off requests must be submitted with initial application - Local candidates are accepted at the local rate - Dress code and scrub color details will be provided by the facility upon assignment Requirements - Active CA RN license in hand required - Current BLS and Advanced NRP certifications required - Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience required - First-time travelers accepted if they have more than 2 years of NICU experience - Proficiency with NICU Level III skills such as phototherapy, tube feed/gavage, blood product administration, PICC and peripheral line management, anti-seizure medications, vasopressors, neonatal abstinence care, phlebotomy, Bubble CPAP, HFNC, and ventilators - Epic EMR experience preferred - No previous permanent staff employment at the same hospital allowed Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626607.
