Job Title: Cath Lab RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current California RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - BLS certification - ACLS certification - California RN license - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cath Lab Description: Adheres to infection prevention guidelines. Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards of practice to deliver safe and optimal care. Assesses patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status. Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff, and others during the continuum of care. Complies with national patient safety goals. Complies with organizational quality dashboard and benchmarking goals. Interprets common variables affecting patient care and follows reporting processes. Maintains regulatory compliance consistent with quality standards and ethical obligations of the profession. Participates in activities in alignment with professional models of care. Participates in organizational activities. Participates in peer review. Engages in professional development activities. Performs as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner. Provides age-specific individualized care that supports protection from harm and complies with patient safety-centered interventions. Provides patient and family education throughout the care of the patient. Uses critical thinking to formulate and carry out a care plan according to patient needs. Utilizes resources in an economical manner. Utilizes safe administration of medications. Utilizes safe patient handling practices. Monitors and manipulates the physical environment to promote safety. Recognizes and provides age-specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of patients across different age groups. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among nurses, physicians, and other members of the health team to meet specific care needs. Collects and analyzes patient data to regulate fluid and electrolyte balance. Intervenes appropriately to correct imbalances. Collects and analyzes patient data to ensure airway patency and adequate gas exchange. Interprets arterial blood gases and intervenes based on results and physician orders. Maintains ventilated patients during procedures. Assists with intubation. Understands pathophysiology related to patients with imbalances between myocardial oxygen supply and demand resulting in impaired cardiac function. Understands pathophysiology related to patients experiencing arrhythmias. Assesses and intervenes based on patient signs and symptoms correlated with diagnostic test results. Administers medications safely and understands indications and expected outcomes. Understands indications for procedural interventions and how these alter patient pathophysiology, affecting the care plan. Interprets diagnostic information obtained during procedures and communicates and assesses appropriately. Administers vasoactive drugs and other cardiac and emergency medications. Monitors patients receiving thrombolytic agents and recognizes potential complications. Manages patient coagulation accurately before, during, and after procedures. Assists with the insertion of devices as needed. Monitors patients with devices and titrates medications as required. Exhibits knowledge of indications, applications, and use of pacemakers when applicable. Sets up equipment for procedures performed in the Cath Lab. Troubleshoots diagnostic equipment. Re-establishes and maintains hemodynamic stability in patients experiencing shock. Admits patients pre-procedure and appropriately assesses and prepares them. Recovers patients post-procedure according to policy.
