Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President, Human Resources will provide leadership and
oversight to all areas of HR, including but not limited to HR
operations, compensation, organizational development, performance
management, HR information systems, labor and employee relations
and employee health. The leader will bring fresh, contemporary
perspectives to HR delivery and operations to go along with a new
sense of purpose and direction to the department. The VP HR will
support the development of an engaged, high-performing workforce,
along with a culture that supports the goals, mission, and vision
of MemorialCare's Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's
and Women's Hospital (together, the "Hospitals"). The ideal
candidate will be an innovative and results-oriented.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Establish personal and professional credibility, gain respect and
build trust with leadership, peers, and subordinates. Become known
as a collaborative, relationship-oriented, visible member of the
executive team within the organization and in the community.
Partner with the MemorialCare SVP-CHRO and the Hospitals' Senior
Leadership Team and Board in optimizing the approach to HR delivery
and service. Enable innovation, creativity and learnings to achieve
desired outcomes that are aligned with the MemorialCare strategy.
Lead outside the functional area to ensure HR is an enabler and a
catalyst for change across the Hospitals, driving outcomes that
affect long-term business performance.
Create programs within leadership and organizational development
that fulfill the career expectations of a multi-generational and
changing workforce.
Optimize talent acquisition processes, tools and technology so that
the Hospitals excel in recruitment metrics and candidate
experience, winning the "battle for talent."
Build partnerships with community organizations, schools and others
to enhance candidate pipelines.
Build a team that is highly engaging, creative and motivated to
partner with operational leaders to drive excellence in operating
metrics. Ensure organizational leaders have accurate and dynamic
data around recruitment and retention so as to be able to make
sound business decisions based on workforce plans and data.
Assess the strengths and design of the team and build to provide a
high level of customer service to the organization. Nurture the HR
team and develop them to realize their full potential and empower
the team to deliver strategic HR guidance to business leaders.
Inspire direct reports to innovate and empower their teams in
driving best in class HR.
Lead continuous improvement of recruitment, engagement, learning
and development programs.
Provide guidance and helps to create a comprehensive monthly
reporting package, and daily, weekly, and/or monthly key
performance reports designed with simplicity and relevance to
support management decision making.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level HR
staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the Human Resources and Employee
Health departments.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with
company policy.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information
systems.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or
related field required; Master's or law degree highly
preferred.
At least ten years of human resource management experience
required, with strategic, talent management, labor relations and/or
business development experience highly preferred.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
