Training SpecialistYour Scope:Reporting to the Director of
Technical Training, the position oversees and supports its power-
generation based training programs in the region.What You'll Do:The
position of Regional Training Specialist works closely with
assigned facility operations and maintenance management personnel
to assist in the training and qualification of identified priority
employees through the provision of direct field-training and
qualification support, as well as training program
development/maintenance. This position provides a critically valued
dynamic, one that helps to ensure Covanta's success as it directly
supports our core value of continuous improvement through continual
employee growth and development.This position is also responsible
for keeping the facility managers appraised of the facility
training and qualification programs to include the Operator
Qualification Program (OQP), ASME QRO Operator Certification, and
the GP Strategies GPiLEARN+ computer-based training program and
Learning Management System (LMS).Primary Responsibilities
Include:Maintaining and disseminating as required accurate employee
training & qualification status matrices for assigned plants on
SharePoint.Prepare for and participation in the regularly scheduled
qualification status update calls with facility management and
associated Regional Operations and Area Managers / VPs.Develop
effective working relationships with Facility Manager (FM)/
Operations Manager (OM) /Maintenance Manager (MM) / Shift
Supervisor (SS) at assigned facilities.Identification of employees
with priority training and qualification needs.Identify and update
work priorities, qualification status, and work completed/planned
through regular reports and in/out meetings with FM/OM/Point-of
Contact.Formal scheduling of individual and group field and
classroom qualification training.Development of training materials
to compliment field training efforts (PPT's, Qualification Study
Guides, etc).Updating of OQP documents to maintain program current
to include the notification to facility management of required
O&M manual and P&ID updates.Checking/assisting with monthly
upkeep of ASME-QRO certification data and status in the ASME/QRO
Certification Status site in SharePoint.Monitoring/assisting with
completion of Safety/OpEx deployment training.Management of the
"Weekly Employee Update" for assigned facilities.Maintain an
updated calendar in Outlook reflecting facility visits, meetings,
PTO, etc.Attend individual weekly status update/communication call
(JV, TH, Trainers).Listing not all inclusive as other duties may be
assigned by Director of Technical Training.What You'll
Bring:Experience / CertificationMinimum of 5 years technical
training development and delivery experience in the Waste-to-
Energy, Power Generation, or Chemical Industries including both
operations and maintenance disciplines.In lieu technical
training/development experience, hold a supporting technical
certification, college/university/merchant academy degree, or
suitable related military experience.ASME/QRO Certification
preferred or achieved within 12 months of hire date.SkillsPossess
excellent communicative and interpersonal skills, the ability to
effectively influence up the chain of command, and the motivation
to self- manage according to a set of stated goals and
objectives.Strong organization, leadership, time management, team
player, able to delegate, positive personality, maintain clean
workplace, focused on continuous improvement.Self-directed, needs
minimum supervision; possess the ability to plan and schedule
individual work assignments in accordance with department and
personal goals.PC skills - MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel),
Computer Based Training and Learning Management Systems.The ability
to convey complex information to a variety of audiences, and to
identify, develop, organize, set-up and conduct interactive
classroom and field training sessions.Other Requirements:Willing
and readily able to travel across the region when
needed.Approximately 50 - 70% travel should be expected to support
identified plant need.This position is facility-based, and works 8
hours minimum per day, typically 8:00 AM through 5:00 PM, although
periodic boiler outages and/or facility upsets may necessitate
flexibility in this area.You must be legally authorized to work in
